The Story
This 50th Anniversary Special Edition celebrates half a century of Jean Leon. A limited production wine made from the oldest vines on the estate that reflects the spirited character of a young visionary. An expression of the singular nature of the land, the vines, the microclimate and the expertise of a winery. A unique combination that will continue making history.

Grape varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
Date grapes picked: Cabernet Sauvignon (From 9th october 2007 onwards), Cabernet Franc (From 30th September 2007 onwards), Merlot (From 18th September 2007 onwards)
Vine age: 37 years Cabernet Sauvignon, 36 years Cabernet Franc, 18 years Merlot
Fermentation: Fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats with maceration of the skins for 2 weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing: Aged for 22 months in new French oak barrels followed by bottle aging.

Bottles: Only 1963 bottles were made to honor the year when Jean Leon estate was established
Alcohol level: 14%
Tasting notes: Intense red colour with bluish embellishments. On the nose its aroma of red fruit jam, with lactic notes, blackberries and truffle stands out over a fine background of spices (black pepper, cinnamon and vanilla), resulting from its ageing in French oak barrels. Its entry on the palate is fresh, with smooth tannins. A smooth and elegant structure.
Serving suggestions: Perfect with Spanish pork or wild duck recipes. Serving temperature: between 18º and 20ºC.
