95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2010 Echezeaux is unbelievably beautiful. It comes across as somewhat cool and understated, but from time to time the wine’s gorgeous fruit shows its pure class. A burst of fruit informs an utterly pure, crystalline finish marked by its nuance and detail. Grivot’s Echezeaux is a model of understated power. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2040. (2/2012)
94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Bright full red. Subtly complex nose offers scents of redcurrant, minerals, tobacco, roasted herbs and earthy underbrush. Fat, plush and sweet; less large but more filled in today than the Clos Vougeot. Tactile, saline wine with terrific energy to its flavors of red cherry, redcurrant, tobacco and earth; saturates the palate like a thunderstorm breaking out over a wide front. Finishes with dusty tannins, superb nuance and grip, and outstanding verve. Very sophisticated wine. Grivot's Echezeaux is routinely one of the best. (4/2013)
93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
Wonderfully complex, pure and pretty spice and floral nuances combine with cool and reserved aromas of red currant and kirsch. The cool, restrained and exquisitely energetic medium plus weight flavors possess an abundance of palate coating dry extract that buffers well the firm tannins on the balanced, forcefully persistent and moderately austere finish. This is also a relatively powerful wine when considered within the context of the typical Ech but it's not quite as muscular and structured as the Clos de Vougeot. This will also require extended cellaring so patience required. (1/2013)
Vintage 2012
2012 was beset by unusual weather that didn’t spare the vines! A mild winter, spring-like March, cool spring with frosts, summer-like May, cooler, wetter June, a variable summer with heatwaves, hail and storms… Because of the cold damp spring, some of the vine flowers didn’t set and form fruit, there was millerandage (where the flowers aren’t fully fertilised and give small berries) and high pressure from mildew and odium. Temperatures went right up during the short periods, over-heating and scorching the berries. This weather caused a significant fall in yields, without, however, impacting on the quality of the grapes, as well spread out bunches with small berries guarantee concentration and intensity.
All in all, the grapes achieved good ripeness in aromas and good sugar to acidity balance. The white wines are characterised by their finesse and concentration. The reds set themselves apart with their lovely colours, ripe and silky tannins and their harmonious mouthfeel
