Mágico 2018 is a truly exclusive wine that saw the light in its 2010 vintage that is made by the Eguren Brothers from a small plot, El Vardallo, of only 1.18 hectares, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. It has the particularity that it is a vineyard planted just after the phylloxera in Rioja and in Spain, so it dates from the early twentieth century, being therefore a vineyard more than centenary.
This is a wine from Sierra Cantabria with a blend of mostly Tempranillo and Garnacha, completed by a small percentage of red and white grapes that are in the plot. It is a jewel within the Eguren Brothers' elaborations, exclusive and undoubtedly captivating during its tasting.
It is made with a maceration with the skins lasts 21 days for the set of varietals and 17 days for the Garnacha. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels. The varietals are fermented in one 500-liter barrel and four 225-liter barrels. The Garnacha is fermented in a 500-liter barrel.
A wine that in its tasting in sight leaves us in glass stop a really clean and bright wine, with a red color. A medium layer, pulling to high and with certain violet reflections in the movement of the glass.
The nose of this 2018 Magico is really incredible, leaving a huge freshness the presence of red fruit, accompanied by an exquisite floral presence. The aging is so subtle that it shows perfectly, with fantastic hints of licorice, intensified floral contributions after aerating the glass, with a light balsamic background.
The entry on the palate is really fine, elegant and subtle, with a lot of freshness, floral touches appear as in the nose, perfect tannins, a toad through the palate really silky, ample, leaving a huge persistence in a quite long finish no doubt.
A wine that, after tasting, can only receive the qualification of Unique.
