History

Château Bernadotte is originally a charming 19th century residence, built in 1860. A classic and opulent mansion that exhibits its beautiful roadside facade in the hamlet of Fournas, in the town of Saint-Sauveur. The estate takes its name from Marshal Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, who was well-esteemed military talent of Napoleon Bonaparte and a Minister of War by the end of 18th century. Vineyards

Château Bernadotte benefits from a fine terroir consisting of a gravel plateau on a clay subsoil, surrounded by prestigious crus classés. Furthermore, a large part of the vineyard is in a production area that used to be included in the Pauillac appellation because at that time it belonged to a cru classé in that appellation. Following a change of owner, this section of the vineyard was separated and became part of the Haut-Médoc AOC.
