The Story

Considered Château d’Esclans’ finest wine, Garrus is made from a single vineyard of nearly 100 year-old Grenache vines, and from Rolle (Vermentino). Entirely fermented and aged in new large French oak barrels for 11 months, the powerful and elegant Garrus was at the heart to Sacha Lichine’s vision in 2006 to make rosé grand. Today Garrus is firmly established as a world class, iconic luxury rosé. It is an impressive and concentrated rosé with a creamy finish featuring rich and spicy notes rivaling any top white wine or prestige Champagne.

Blend: Grenache, Vermentino and Syrah

Harvesting: Grapes are selected from vines that grow from parcels of superior quality. The best quality lots bearing old vines consisting primarily of Grenache, Vermentino and Syrah. Harvesting at sunrise to noon.

Winemaking: Optical sorting followed by destemming and slight crushing at 7-8°C to avoid oxidation. 90% free run juice and only 10% of the grapes goes through slight pressing. No maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in new and second year demi-muids (600 L barrels) 10 months with Burgundian style 'bâtonnage' twice weekly. Individual barrel temperature control.

Written Notes

Pale rosé colour with slightly orange hue. Very expressive nose with aroma reminiscent of raspberries, cranberries, mallow, tangerine zest, a discreet hint of hazelnut in the background. With some time, an elegant flowery touch is developing. On the palate this stunning Rosé displays a creamy texture, velvety character, fine acidity, excellent aromatic depth and length, repeating the flavours of the nose. A unique rosé with amazing tension and wonderful mouthfeel, the best ever vinified Garrus.
