Ribera del Duero sijaitsee Espanjan luoteisosassa, Riojasta lounaaseen. Alue on kuuluisa paitsi rajuista lämpötilaeroista, myös erinomaisen laadukkaista viineistä. Ribera del Duero on Espanjan nimekkäimpiä viinintuotantoalueita, ja Bodegas Arzuaga yksi alueen parhaimmista tuottajista.
Arzuaga Gran Reservan väri on mustien kirsikoiden sävyttämä. Sydän on lähes musteinen, reunoissa on hieman violettia muistuttaen viinin pitkästä tulevaisuudesta. Viskositeetti on hyvin korkea, jalat ovat pitkät ja viipyvät.
Tuoksu on puhdas, siinä on huumaavaa kirsikka-mustaherukkahilloa, sikarilaatikkoa, seetriä ja tammen mukanaan tuomia mausteita: neilikkaa, vaniljaa ja muskottipähkinää, paahdettuja kastanjoita ja nahkaa.
Maku on äärettömän täyteläinen ja suuntäyttävä. Tanniinit ovat läsnä, mutta jo miellyttävästi pyöristyneet. Konsentroituneet hedelmät kuten taatelit ja luumut hallitsevat. Maussa on myös paahteisuutta ja hillomaisuutta. Jälkimaussa, joka on pitkä ja viipyvä, sikarin ja paahdettujen manteleiden joukkoon sekoittuu jouluisia mausteita ja hitunen eukalyptusta.
Arzuaga Gran Reserva on oiva valinta viinin todellisille ystäville, vaikkapa ihan vain nautiskeluun.
