Vintage 2016

SPAIN 2016 will be remembered for the piles of grapes thrown to the ground in Rioja. Our most renowned wine region, as well as Navarra and most appellations in Castilla y León, registered very high yields in sharp contrast with Mediterranean wine regions where drought led to below-average production levels. The gloomy picture came from Ribeira Sacra in Galicia where severe hail hit the area of Doade in August and destroyed 400,000 kilos of gra...

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is cherry red and deep. On the nose it is mature and round. The taste is round, ripe, and dry, high alcohol content, with medium tannin, with sweet tannins, and average in acidity, full-bodied and with well-integrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has new-oak, chocolate, toasty and coffee flavours. The finish is long and flavorful. This wine is fine. I paid around 30-50€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 5-10€ years and decant at least 30min before tasting. Good value for money. I do recommend.
