A richly flavoured Barossa Cab here. Under cork.
The wine has an inky dark maroon hue and there is a notable oak influence evident, giving a pleasing toasty character, but it is certainly well handled. The nose exhibits notes of chocolate, roast meats, warm earth, coffee grinds and bay leaves. There is real power here, though at no stage does the wine lose focus. Well-structured with fine tannins, bright acidity and very good length, this would benefit from three or four years in the cellar before it makes an appearance, after which it should drink beautifully for the next ten to fifteen years. 93.
