The Story

This noble sweet white wine, graceful and weightless, is a subtle wine that is like no other. If it is the very expression of the quintessence of this appellation with balance and freshness, it also has the strength and magnificence among the greatest Sauternes. Climens is characterized by brilliance or depth, borne only of its unique terroir.

This special grace, the result of tightness and minerality is also blessed with an extraordinary a...

Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

2015 is a wonderful Bordeaux vintage without the hype or hysteria associated with 2009 and 2010. The wines are generally expressive and generous with wonderful concentration and structure. Given another year in barrel, the wines should gain more complexity and fruit volume. Châteaux, in all sub-regions, are e...

Written Notes

Tasted twice from barrel - last time in April 2017. Consistent notes. Maybe this vintage can be as stunning as 2014. It doesn't have the acidity of 2014, but it seems that intensity and depth are slightly bigger in 2015. We will see!

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is green-yellow, and looking bright and youthful. On the nose it is intense, youthful, opulent, generous and rich. The taste is ripe, fragrant, and sweet, with silky tannins, full-bodied, with balanced, multi-dimensional and well-integrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has perfumed, glycerin, vanilla, truffles, tropical fruits, apricot, white fruits, honey, dried-fruit and buttery flavours. The finish is long, extensive and flavorful. This wine is sexy, outstanding and fine. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 2h before tasting. Good value for money.

Pale colour. Fresh dried apricot, white flowers, pineapple, grapefruit aniseed aromas and flavours with honeyed marzipan notes. Superb luscious yet perfectly weighted fruit with underlying ginger oak, light chalky textures and superb mineral cut. Tasted several barrels, each from different tries. The best way to taste an unfinished wine. 99 points
