Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

Written Notes

A great Sauternes and one of the stars of the vintage with bright golden colour. Expressive yet elegant nose with fine and typical Botrytis character. Ripe fruit, apricots, Mirabelle, tangerine zest, with granadilla, mango and ripe pineapple. The oak is very well integrated, displays hints of vanilla and discreet toasting. On the palate well balanced with depth of flavour, quoting the fruit of the nose, opulent sweetness tamed by refined acidity and hints of minerality. A great bottle.

Full bottle 1,360 g. Undated cask sample. 65% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc. Organic certification since 2011. Yield just 8.32 hl/ha. Fermentation and ageing in oak barrels (90% new) for 18 to 24 months.
Very introvert aromatically at the moment although there is a bit of botrytis on the palate. Waxy, round texture and really pretty sweet. Lots of interest here.
