The Story

A lovely estate on the west side of Pomerol, Château La Grave dates back to the early 19th century. As indicated by its name, the soil is almost pure pebble. Deep colour. Dark plums and spices with dark chocolate notes. Supple and fleshy with deep set dark berry fruits, touch of kirsch, plentiful chalky tannins and underlying oak. Attractive tannin plume at the finish with aniseed notes. Plenty of substance. Tasted at JP Moueix. 93 points.
