The Story

At the heart of the great terroirs of the Sauternes region, Lafaurie-Peyraguey’s vineyard is located on the terrace of Sauternes gravel, 70 metres above sea level, just next to Château d’Yquem. The “Enclos” and “Maisons Rouges” plots represent the historic heart of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey’s magnificent terroir, consisting of gravel from the Quaternary era which was deposited here more than 600,000 years ago, on a substratum of Aquitania lim...

Written Notes

The 1907 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is slightly paler in color than the 1906 and shows the subtlest of green tints on the wide, degraded rim. Similarly, the bouquet does not deliver the same cohesion as the 1906, or the same concentration. However, it displays exquisite delineation, and the Seville orange marmalade, quince, lanolin and melted candle wax aromas gain a soupçon of intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet marmalade, dried honey and stem ginger entry. The acidity is near-perfect, and an almost malt-like finish lingers long in the mouth. Bitter orange appears on the aftertaste. Remarkable. Tasted at the Lafaurie-Peyraguey retrospective at the château.

imply magnificent wine giving aromas of mango and acacia honey and having great acidity. Well-preserved with beautiful balance, enchanting flavors, attraction and finesse. Still quite fresh. Stunning 100+ years old wine.
