The Story

At the heart of the great terroirs of the Sauternes region, Lafaurie-Peyraguey’s vineyard is located on the terrace of Sauternes gravel, 70 metres above sea level, just next to Château d’Yquem. The “Enclos” and “Maisons Rouges” plots represent the historic heart of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey’s magnificent terroir, consisting of gravel from the Quaternary era which was deposited here more than 600,000 years ago, on a substratum of Aquitania lim...

Written Notes

Excellent condition and level was by the neck. Decanted two hours before tasting. Brilliant deep-gold, bright and warm colour. Fabulous honeyed nose, open, soft and complex. Goodacidity and structure, but not as fat and complex as Yquem, but a very close match. Excellent length and finish. A lovely and joyful experience.

1998: 19 Punkte. Gaumen: Melasse pur, dicht, Caramel, herrliche Säure mit optimaler Süsse; salzig. Gross. 2006: 19 Punkte. Wunderbare Süsse, gute aber dennoch gut ausgebaute Säure. Etwas Vaniulle. Coca Cola. Malzig. Nicht sehr dicht aber elegant. Mokka. Langer Abgang. 2008 auf dem Château: 19 Punkte. Perfekte Harmonie von Süsse und Säure. Orangeat. Vanille-Crème und etwas Malz im Abgang. Sehr elegantr und zugleichnochjugendlicher Sauternes. Lediglich etwas mehr Komplexität fehlt zur Maximalnote
