The Story

Comte de Thun wines are ambassadors for the wine landscape of south-west France. In style, they differ clearly from other wines of the area, while at the same time being typical of the region; after all, they articulate the Gaillac terroir in their own way.
Comte de Thun wines are individual expressions of their creators’ vision to revive the viticultural success period of the ‘Vins du Coq’.

The Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir wine varieties express in their own way the unique terroir of the Plateau Cordais in Gaillac. “Wine genius comes from the varietal”, said the father of viticulture studies, Dr Jules Guyot. In this sense, the pure varietal Crus are individual expressions of Comte de Thun.

The Cabernet Franc also comes from the La Maze location. Herby and spicy, with a scent of dark wild berries and mineral notes, as well as fine tannins and a fresh acidity, our Cabernet Franc is a wine of substance despite the young age of the vines.

Written Notes

Dark purple colour with almost black core. Rich and aromatically expressive nose reminiscent of fresh blackcurrants, rose pepper, gingerbread and balmy spices, hints of vanilla in the background. A wine with elegant and freshness although the alcohol is quite hight it is in perfect balance. Elegant finish with good length.
