Les Petits Monts is a small 3.67 hectare Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée that lies above Richebourg. Facing east, northeast from elevations ranging between 280 and 340 meters, the soil is quite rocky. The origin of the name is straightforward and suggests only the size (petit=small) of the hill on which the vineyard is situated.
2007 Vosne-Romanée 1er cru Les Petit Monts, Comte Liger-Belair
Open nose filled with sweet, ripe red berry fruit, elderberries and a toasty oak note. As most Cote de Nuits 2007s is nose is on the virge of being over ripe and lacks elegance but is dead charming.
Full and lush palate that is so typical for 2007s. However this one really tightens up on the finish and delivers a very solid palate grip. The acidity is perhaps a touch low and there's really a feeling that this is all you'll get but it's still a very chamring effort and delivers a lot of pleasure today.
