Wine Description
The Story
Grapes: Pinot Noir 100% – The grapes come from high density planted vineyards (8000/ha) with low yields of 35hl/ha.
Vineyard: Since 2008, the estate has the privilege of managing the vineyard of the Meyerhof castle. This beautiful home bears witness to the splendor of Rorschwihr's past. Many writings relate the excellence of the wines produced on these lands. A line of Popes and key figures in history (Clement III, Innocent II, Pepin the Short, Louis the Pious, ...) had the privilege of tasting these wines of renown. The terroir is composed of oolitic limestone colluviums, matrix clay marl. The wines are opulent with fine structured acidity.
Vineyard management: According to the method of organic farming - controlled by ECOCERT - FR-BIO-01.
Tasting notes:
Color: Ruby red with some purplish reflections.
Nose: Very open, of good maturity, with notes of red fruits (cherry), jammy fruits and some notes of discreet spices.
Taste: Of very beautiful fabric, it is a True and Big Red, concentrated, velvety and of an incomparable suppleness. The soul of Pinot Noir finds in this wine all its balance between power and elegance. It is a basket of red fruits that is offered to you. Some floral notes bring finesse and distinction to this original and atypical wine, which denotes traditional Alsatian Pinot Noir.
Serving:
Wine and food recommendations: It is a wine of great gastronomy. We recommend this festive and convivial wine as an aperitif, with desserts but also with refined dishes like foie gras, sweetbreads, sweet / salty combinations (duck with orange, ...)
Ageing potential: 15 years
