The Story
Clos de Guichaux is a 1.6 ha plot in the Bizay area of Saumur. The vines are about 20 years old.
Size: 1.6 ha (3.95 ac)
Variety: Chenin Blanc 100%
Vine Age: Planted in 2003
Terroir: Located in Bizay, silt and sand soils on relatively soft limestone bedrock
Viticulture: Organic. Pruning method is Guyau Val de Loire. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted in the vineyard.
Vinification: Gentle whole-cluster pressing, no chaptalization, indigenous yeast fermentation. Ageing for 12 months in old 600 litre oak barrels (Demi-muids).
