Vintage 2017

BURGUNDY 2017 - In 2017, everything came good for the Bourgogne winegrowing region in terms of both quality and quantity. And after several years of harvests that suffered the whims of the weather, 2017 has provided volumes set to satisfy the market, with wines that are already promising great things to come from this elegant vintage.

Written Notes

Appearance

Brilliant, medium-deep ruby with subtle garnet highlights, luminous and finely textured.

Nose

Exceptionally complex and refined. The bouquet opens with lifted floral notes of rose petal, violet, and peony, followed by layers of red and dark berries—wild strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, and mulberry. With air, deeper nuances emerge: sandalwood, incense, sweet spices, orange zest, and a hint of exotic tea. There is a distinct Musigny perfume here—ethereal, expansive, and endlessly nuanced.

Palate

Silky and seamless on entry, the wine glides across the palate with extraordinary finesse. The fruit is pure and precise—red cherry, cranberry, and ripe raspberry—interwoven with subtle savory tones, crushed stone minerality, and fine spice. The tannins are ultra-fine, almost imperceptible, providing structure without weight. Acidity is perfectly judged, lending freshness and lift while preserving balance and length.

Finish

Exceptionally long, graceful, and persistent. Floral notes return on the finish alongside gentle spice and a saline, mineral echo that lingers effortlessly.

Overall Impression

This Musigny 2017 is a wine of elegance rather than power—deeply expressive yet never forceful. It showcases the hallmark traits of the climat: perfume, harmony, and a sense of weightless intensity. While already captivating in its youth, it possesses the structure and inner complexity to evolve beautifully over decades.
