The 3.2-acre Clos Jebsal Vineyard is located on a gypsum fault line, rich in marl, at the bottom of the Zind-Humbrecht's Brand Grand Cru Vineyard. Here, all conditions required to produce noble rot are present. Zind-Humbrecht's dedication to terroir expression guides all winemaking practices, which include extended pressing cycles, abbreviated clarification cycles (to retain natural yeasts and proteins in the must), natural malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees. The wine is aged 24-36 months in 40-year-old French barrels.
Located just below the Brand Grand Cru Vineyard, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht's 3.2-acre Clos Jebsal Vineyard lies on a marl-limestone geological fault rich in clay and gypsum. The steep slopes of this small parcel face directly south. The Vineyard benefits from a very warm microclimate, protected from the north winds by Brand Mountain.
