The Story

Conterno’s Monfortino is a heavyweight contender for the best Barolo around, and it definitely has our vote. It’s a matchless experience of power paired with subtlety and the effect is quite seductive. Written Notes

Bottle looked like new. Decanted 30 minutes. Fine, full, vigorous colour. Ripe, fat and minty on the nose. Youthful, very rich and concentrated. Even more so as it developed in the glass. Elegant, full-bodied, balanced palate, with some spicy tannins providing structure. This is a really excellent bottle. Great complexity of fruit. This is quite a serious example of Monfortino. Lots of life ahead of it.
