Written Notes

The 2017 vintage of Vin de Constance shows another step in the evolution of this unique style of wine. I am sure that it will belong to one of the great vintages however slightly more modern in approach. It is in line with 2015 and 2016, vintages which showed the evolution of style already. The colour is of bright golden yellow. The nose displays a very flowery aroma, reminiscent of a "flower shop in winter times". These flowery components are backed by candied orange zest, cardamom, honey and orange marmalade, kumquat and white lilies. Hints of fresh tangerine zest and rosewater as well as candied sweet almonds in the background. On the palate the wine is luscious yet savoury, discreetly spicy with a wonderful tension, fine acidity and hints of salinity. The taste is well balanced with elegant sweetness, showing lingering flavours of candied orange peel, citrus fruit, apricot jam and yellow stone fruits in the aftertaste. A wine of great elegance and finesse with convincing length and a promising future.
