The Story

La Mondotte dates back to the early 19th century. Cocks & Féret ("Bordeaux and its Wines"), mention it in their second edition in 1868. It is thus entirely untrue that La Mondotte was "created" in 1996, as one sometimes hears. Written Notes

La Mondotte PGCC – plenty of sweet black cherries on the nose and palate, very potent, refined, complexity and depth. Silky fruit and tannin yet robust and with fat lingering finish. Imposing effort. 96+p.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Powerful yet elegant nose. Aroma reminiscent of ripe plums, black cherries, sweet elderberries and hints of candied orange peel in the background. Cocoa and dark chocolate, vanilla and fine toasting aroma, a discreet flowery touch in the background. On the palate full-bodied with great depth and length, repeating the flavours of the nose, rich yet fresh with multi-layered fruit and elegant spiciness in the finish. An excellent Mondotte.
