The Story

Name of origin: My Sweet “Douce brize” from the Ocean

Vineyard: Fort Ross-Seaview appellation – On the second ridge off Ocean on a high elevation and Goldridge soil.

Winemaking:  Picking cluster by cluster. Fermentation in barrel through native yeast 100% Malolactic. Ageing sur lies with bâtonnage
in French oak from selected coopers.

Winemaker notes:

The cool maritime breeze and mild and sunny mountain climate create ideal conditions for this hillside vineyard located on the second ridge from the Pacific Ocean. Handcrafted using classical Burgundian winemaking techniques, this wine is dedicated to Jodie Morlet. It is ‘My Sweet’ or ‘Ma Douce.’

Full yellow color. Aromas of lemon drop, Crème Brulée and orange zest intermixed with strong notes of minerality (wet stones) and fresh hazelnut. Full-bodied, mineral driven, this wine displays a creamy texture and very long mineral finish. Built to age gracefully for a decade, this wine is already very approachable.

Vintage 2014

93 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate / Robert M. Parker Jr.

"The 2014 vintage, a drought year with abundant yields, rendered some beautiful Chardonnays from Morlet. The 2014 Chardonnay Ma Douce has considerable structure, a floral nose with loads of lemon custard, poached pear, subtle toast and a hint of white peach. It certainly has the structure to evolve for a decade or more. This seemed more closed than when I tasted it from barrel last year." (RP) (10/2016)

92 points by Vinous / Antonio Galloni

The 2014 Chardonnay Ma Douce is bright, nuanced, with an intriguing interplay of intense pineapple notes and a distinct, salty note that perks up the flavors. The 2014 is quite reticent and tightly wound at this stage." (AG) (3/2017)
