Vintage 2018

Written Notes

Brian Croser and Petaluma might have made the sub-region of Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills famous for Chardonnay, but there have been plenty to follow in those footsteps. The grapes sourced for this lovely Chardy were hand-picked and then whole bunch pressed into a mix of new and older French Oak, for a natural fermentation.

The resulting wine is deep gold in colour with lovely nutty notes. There is already complexity evident here and it is building some serious developed characters. Stonefruit and cashews dominate at this stage with well-integrated oak. The texture is supple and the balance fine. Soft acidity is present and the wine lingers enticingly. An attractive wine now and it can be enjoyed today, but for those looking for even more complexity, another two to four years in a good cellar will provide that. 92.
