A compelling and elegantly poised red wine, the 2020 The Mascot delivers both richness and finesse. The bouquet opens with inviting aromas of dark cherry, plum and blackberry, layered with subtle notes of violet, dried herbs and spice. Hints of cedar, graphite and tobacco leaf add nuance and depth.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with smooth, finely textured tannins and bright, balanced acidity that enhances clarity and drive. Flavours of ripe dark fruit are complemented by savoury elements of black pepper, earth and subtle oak spice, creating both structure and harmony. The texture is polished, and the fruit shows both depth and purity.
The finish is long, graceful and persistent, marked by lingering dark fruit, spice and a touch of mineral complexity. A versatile and captivating wine with both immediate appeal and the potential to evolve with careful cellaring.
