Bright, full medium ruby. Reticent nose currently dominated by aromas of dark chocolate, rum raisin, spices, licorice and graphite minerality, with its dark fruits in the deep background at present. Densely packed and hugely concentrated owing to the low crop level of 2015, but already displaying compelling sweetness. This is quite inexpressive, flavor-wise, in the middle palate but already boasts a three-dimensional texture and outstanding depth. This extremely youthful wine boasts a compellingly long, echoing finish featuring ripe, building tannins--more obvious than those of the 2016 today--and a brooding medicinal note of dark chocolate. This, too, is an infant today. Production of the Georges de Latour has been lower in recent years than previously, with this vintage the lowest of all at just 6,200 cases. (15% alcohol; 3.62 pH; 6.1 g/l acidity; aged for 22 months in 90% new French oak)

The 2015 vintage influenced our signature Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by crafting a wine small in yield, but mighty in concentration, depth and elegance.  The bouquet shows beautiful freshness with a cascade of red and dark berry fruit notes followed by hints of rose petal and violet.  Rich, with a full-bodied structure on the palate, the wine is complex and expressive, revealing layers of blackcurrant, bright raspberry, dark cherry and cassis, followed by hints of cedar, cinnamon, clove and mocha. Plush tannins support the expansive palate, while impeccably balanced acidity adds vibrancy and freshness. Well integrated notes of vanilla and toasted oak spices - from aging in new French oak barrels - heighten the aromas and linger on the finish. To enjoy this wine at its full potential, we recommend at least five years of bottle aging; however if you can’t wait, decant before serving.

At our state-of-the-art winery, dedicated exclusively to the crafting of the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is fermented in a combination of 55% new French oak barrels which provides early integration of fruit and oak character into the blend and enhances the dense, rich texture. The balance of the must was fermented in stainless steel and upright wood fermenters which preserves the freshness of the fruit. Following judicious extended skin contact and in-barrel malolactic fermentation, the wine was pressed and returned to barrels for aging. A small amount of Petit Verdot and Merlot was blended with the Cabernet Sauvignon to further enhance the wine’s aroma and flavor profile.
