The Story

The Sauternes produced by Château de Fargues is the result of outstanding gifts of nature and the motivation – one might even say the stubbornness – of a family devoted to fine wine, and an attentive, enthusiastic winemaking team.

Written Notes

Tasted in November 2021. Almost as thrilling as 2019! Unctuous, very rich and with outstanding freshness and acidity. Remarkable sweetness and many botrytized flavours like honey melon, almonds, sweet pineapple and mango. Long and creamy finish.

80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc.
Deep copper colour. Gorgeous rich pear-juice notes and a burnished element. Toasted and serious. Not actually all that sweet – a Sauternes for a savoury course? Really energetic and lively. Lots to chew on. Very lively. And pretty weighty!

Pale golden. Apricots, pineapples, peach, fruity, elegant and bright nose. Fresh acidity, fresh, fruity, detailed, beautiful, lively, nuanced and long. Superb purity. 94-96

  • 95p

Bright golden yellow colour. Opulent nose with aroma reminiscent of candied apricots and ripe pineapple, candied orange peel, hints of vanilla, honey and peach jam in the background. On the palate opulent sweetness and fine acidity, with good depth and length, confirming the fruit in the nose. 93
