The Story

The Sauternes produced by Château de Fargues is the result of outstanding gifts of nature and the motivation – one might even say the stubbornness – of a family devoted to fine wine, and an attentive, enthusiastic winemaking team.

Written Notes

The 2001 Château de Fargues is deeper in color than its peers. It has a multifaceted bouquet of manuka honey, quince and yellow flowers, although it does not quite deliver the complexity of, say, Doisy-Daëne or Climens. The palate is viscous on the entry, very voluminous and rich, conveying width and girth yet somehow just missing some mineralitéor intrigue toward the finish. This is a very fine Sauternes, yet I find more in other vintages.

Bright golden, honey, botrytis, biscuits, apricots, vanilla, so complex, layered and intense. Sweet, but still so refreshing, acidity works perfectly, such balance, you marvel at how this fruit basket can feel dry, and still mouthwatering and so lively. Pure youth, such elegance and e very long finish. 94
