The Story

Clos Fourtet enjoys an ideal setting, with its 47 acres of walled vineyard atop a limestone-based plateau. Clos Fourtet was sold in 2001 by the the Lurton family for just under £42 million to the Cuvelier family. By lowering yields, encouraging malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks and employing less new oak, Clos Fourtet shows greater precision.

Written Notes

Colour is evolved with orange tint on the rim. Nose is fresh with unbalanced structure in the palate. some harchness of tannins, important acidity with a dry finish. This wine presented much better 4 years ago. A little bit disappointing nowadays, may be it has to be drinking now.

  • 92p
Deep ruby, ruby rim. Intense yet layered nose, touch of coffee, plums and blueberries beneath. Floral above and somewhat perfumed. Needs air to open up fully. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins. Elegant and balanced palate, refreshing. Long and elegant finish.
