The Story

PLURIBUS expresses the character of an estate located at an elevation over 1,100 feet on the dramatic slopes of Spring Mountain.

The name refers to the Latin word for many, and was chosen to signify the various facets involved in creating a fine wine: from the sun, soil, and climate of a vineyard, to the team of people who guide a wine through its evolution. A breathtaking mountainous 7-acre site with steep exposures to the north, east and southeast, the soil is comprised of volcanic bedrock. Pluribus, which debuted in the 2003 vintage, is defined as a bold, rich and concentrated wine; elements of dark plum, roasted coffee, and scents of cedar are inherent throughout the vintages.

SOIL: Decomposed volcanic material. Surrounded by a conifer forest. North and East Exposure.

Written Notes

Lots of blue fruit and violets with some slate and cool stone. Peaches, too. Full-bodied, structured and tannic at first, but then shows a fluid and subtle, fruity impact from the mid-palate to the end. A little reserved now, so give it three or four years to show its stuff. Try after 2023.

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is purple and deep. On the nose it is youthful, intense, rich, refined, generous and ripe. The taste is elegant, perfumed, toasty, fat, full, and dry, with silky tannins, and average in acidity, full-bodied, with well-integrated, well-structured, complex, perfectly balanced structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has blackberry, blackcurrant, chocolate, smoky, spice, perfumed and toasty flavours. The finish is long, smooth, vibrant, spicy, flavorful and lingering. This wine is impressive. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least over 4h before tasting.
