Wine Description
The Story
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
Soil: Our Hermitage « Monier de la Sizeranne » grows on three different types of soil based on the vineyard plot from which the grapes are sourced. « Les Bessards » is granitic. It forms the "soul" of a good Hermitage wine. « Le Méal » has old alluvial terrace, with a lot of gravel and rolled pebbles and is more or less chalky. « Les Greffieux » is limon with rolled stones.
Harvest: Hand harvested at optimal maturity.
Vinification: The grapes ferment in open wooden vats after total destemming. Two daily treadings ensure a good extraction of the tannins. The temperature of fermentation varies between 26 and 32°C.
Maturation: Maturing takes place in oak casks, of which one third is new. Several rackings permit a slow and natural clarification process. This wine is unfiltered and unfined.
Ageing potential: 15+ years
Food Matching: Roast meat, large game in red wine sauce, soft and creamy cheese.
