Excalibur Sauvignon Blanc Adelaide Hills 2025 ($28) – Somehow, I struggle to see King Arthur sitting down to a hearty meal of roast boar with a glass of chilled Savvy, but Merlin conjuring up a few fresh oysters might work.
A very pale lemon hue, this is clean and fresh and very aromatic, with the perfumes filling the room upon opening. The focus is indeed ‘rapier-like’. Good energy and direction, there is juicy acidity and notes of grapefruit, nettles, passionfruit and lemon. Even a touch of my grandmother’s wonderful gooseberry jam is evident. A very fine example of Adelaide Hills Savvy with impressive length, this will drink well for at least the next six years, although there seems no reason to hesitate. 92.
