The Story

A very good friend of mine challenged me to produce a traditional, full-bodied Barossa Valley wine with the only criteria that it could be drunk young at lunch or dinner and did not stray from my fundamental wine making philosophies. French oak, fine grained tannins, balance, clear fruit expression! Those who know me well know that I just love a good challenge!” - Dean Hewitson.

Written Notes

Ned & Henry’s Shiraz 2020 – Deep maroon in colour with a lifted, alluring nose. Spices, dry herbs, raspberries, chocolate, soy, beefstock. There is focus, power and line and length. Fine cushiony tannins are found on the long finish. Youthful, but really appealing now. That does not mean it does not have a good future and drinking this wine any time over the next five to eight years will reward.

Dean Hewitson set himself the challenge of crafting a full-flavoured Barossa red using French oak, and offering “fine grained tannins, balance, clear fruit expression”, which could be enjoyed now or but fits the traditional mould as well. He has more than nailed his own brief. 92.

BWW2025

VOTE NOW FOR YOUR FAVOURITE WINES FOR THE BEST WINE OF THE WORLD2025 -TITLE

"We believed the opinion of 10,000 consumers or 1,000 professionals to be more correct and more significant than a small group of wine professionals, when it comes to judging a wine competition - so, please vote!

BWW-The Best Wine of the World-competition is by far the toughest wine competition on this planet. Unlike any other industry competition, less than 1% of the wines involved will be awarded.

BWW is also the largest wine competition: The BWW competition has already received in total over 15 million votes. The voting time ends at the end of May 2025.
