The Story

Palmer & Co VINTAGE is always a subtle association of a particular climatic year and the Palmer style. Consisting exclusively of Premier and Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims area, this champagne of rare complexity also has the typical charming elegance of Palmer&Co.
Intense aromas of crisp fruits and citrus are mingled with delicate notes of toasted brioche and hazelnut. Ample and sophisticated on the palate, the wine settles to a perfect balance between power and freshness.

Wine Information

Presentation of the Cuvée
A vintage year results from an exceptional year, an assemblage of crus and grape-varieties from the same harvest.
For Champagne Palmer it’s also a subtle association between the memory and particularities of the climatic year and the style of the house.

The blending of the Vintage Brut is not a strict balance between the pinot and chardonnay grapes: It is first created and then interpreted to emphasize the specific qualities of the vintage. Only Grands crus and Premier Crus of the Montagne de Reims have their legitimate place in the assemblage of the Brut Millésimé. As a matter of fact, the pinot noir coming from these vineyards is the backbone of this cuvée.
In our Maison, we do lengthen our vintage wine ageing: from five to ten years, even more.

This slow maturation on the deposit of yeasts, the peculiar quality of the vintage as well as the nobility of terroir origins bring to the Brut Millésimé a rare complexity. These rigorous rules and requirements can also be found in the maturation of Brut Millésimé magnums, much slower than in the standard bottle.

Tasting Notes
A vintage wine in Palmer is always a complete and elegant wine, conveying a strong and full personality. The robe is a pure golden yellow. On the nose, a wide range of intense aromas from very ripe and mature grapes, dried fruits, fruit jelly, honey flavors, biscuit or pastry scents, light toasted notes... In the mouth, the fruity roundness of the pinot offers a charming and delicate impression. Its persistent liveliness and very beautiful balance develop fruity and floral aromas. The Brut Millésimé is always a rich and fresh champagne, particularly harmonious and delicate.

Food Pairing
The cuvée of Brut Millésimé offers an additional note of refinement at the aperitif time. Its fine vinous structure also allows specific accompaniment as subtle as full-flavored dishes, for example: a light crab blinis, scallops with foie gras, a sole with sweet spices, a fricassee of fine poultry with mushrooms...
Here is the Brut Millésimé: nuances and a surprising adaptation to any dish according to the year expression!

Vintage 2004

A great example of how large yields do not necessarily mean poor quality in Champagne. As a reaction to the previous year's low yields, the vines produced one of the largest crops on record. The growing season proceeded without major difficulties but the bumper crop called for bud thinning. August brought about cooler weather and some rains, increasing the risk of rot. The massive crop, averaging 13,990 kg/ha, was picked from September 18th onwards. The quality was a pleasant surprise; vibrant wines with appropriate intensity, refined charm and refreshing lightness. This vintage impresses me more and more, and I feel tempted to give it the full five stars. It comes with a rare balance of freshness, lightness, yet fine aromatic intensity. Post-release, this vintage has proven to be slow to age, and elegant wines are likely to keep on ageing gracefully. Dom Pérignon and Louis Roederer Cristal both excelled.
