The Story
As from the 2002 vintage RODA II was renamed RODA. Once the 17 wines coming from the 17 vineyards selected for the year have been aged one year in barrel, it is the time for RODA and RODA I to be created.
In the blending of RODA, the wines are from plots of red berry fruit characters, with aromas that are to the fore, ready for immediate enjoyment, with sweet spice notes and delicious freshness. On the palate, the red berry fruit should come through, with a refreshing mouthfeel, length, silky texture and continuous volume. They are excellent wines for gastronomic meals, very versatile, go well with fish, roast meat or a complex casserole dish.

Tasting:
Colour: Deep cherry red colour and lively red edging
Nose: The wood is perfectly integrated, fine and fresh spices. The fruit reminds ripe cherries. Light mineral notes appear in the background, which give depth to the wine. A final freshness reminds the greatness of the 2010 vintage.
Palate: Voluminous and pleasant wine, with very elaborated and integrated tannins. The fruit feeling of the ripe cherry becomes more complex and reminds the taste of the flesh next to the stone. It can be appreciated a fresh minerality which leads to the remembrance of an excellent vintage with Atlantic reminiscences. Very long, complex, tasty and elegant wine.
The 2010 vintage is the freshest of the three excellent vintages, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Harvest:
An excellent vintage.
440 mm rainfall during the growing season.
The winter was wet, early spring was dry and there was plenty of rain during the flowering season which caused millerandage and in turn resulted in open and well-aired clusters.
July and August were very dry. There was virtually no rain. There were no phytosanitary problems and almost no treatments were needed.
Some light rains in September and October that allowed an excellent, although rather small harvest.
Temperatures were well below those of 2009 and the whole cycle was slower, with a delay of about 10 days.
It was a cooler vintage, which left its mark of freshness and elegance in the wines.
