<10 tasting notes
Bright amber-red. The complex nose is redolent of tertiary aromas including faded rose petal, licorice, cedar and underbrush, plus a note of red cherry jelly. Soft and supple on the palate; delicate red cherry and herb flavors linger impressively on the suave finish, where fine tannins provide support. This lovely, fully mature wine began falling apart in the glass after about an hour, so avoid giving it any more aeration than a quick decanting off its sediment before serving it. Ceretto made some truly lovely wines in 1974 (their Barolo Zonchetta was always a real crowd-pleaser too) and this Bricco Asili is in line with the estate’s production in this vintage.
