The Story

Château Petit-Village is a jewel set in the highest part of the magnificent terroir of the Pomerol plateau, on deep gravel and clay soils with a ferrous base in the heart of the appellation.

The unique style of Château Petit-Village. It expresses the successful blend of the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. Thanks to the Merlot and the Cabernet Franc, the wine offers aromatic complexity and a long, delicate fini...

The 2018 Vintage Report

2018 was a challending year with outstanding results.

After a winter with temperatures slightly below the ten-year average and regular rainfall between December and March (just over 500mm), rainy weather continued in March with lower than average temperatures lower.

Report and recommendations for the 2018 Bordeaux vintage

by Andrew Caillard MW

2018 is an exceptional year. Bordeaux whites and Sauternes are very good, but from an Australian perspective, the excitement is all in the red wines. Written Notes

Petit Village - 72% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. 40% new oak and 5% amphoras. Because of mildew, the yield per ha was only 24 hl. Intensely aromatic on the nose with dark berries, Creamy and both powerful and at the same time graceful, stylish, deep and long, finesse, refinement and sophisticated touch. This is a real thrill and a big proof of huge improvement of the quality here since the arrival of Diana Berrouet! Tasted twice from the barrel, once from the bottle. 96p

Ruby. Scented, dark fruits, anise, floral, blueberries and spices, ripe and rich nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, anise, blueberries, spices, minerals, detailed, refreshing, lovely. 93-95

  • 95p

Dark purple red colour with violet hue and almost black core. Ripe fruit, blackberries, sweet plums, hints of vanilla and discreet roasting aroma, flowery components in the background. On the palate well structured with ripe, smooth tannins, sweet fruit, very convincing. An almost mystical character with promising aspects, however quite hidden for the moment.
