The Story

Château Trotanoy, a famous growth whose soil was too hard to work (« trop anoi » in medieval French) is located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux wine region on one of the most beautiful parts of Pomerol. As all wine produced in this appellation, Château Trotanoy is unclassified, but the estate is estimated among the great growths of the region. Written Notes

Tasted in March 2020. This bottle together with 2004 and 2008 was purchased from a very reliable wine shop in mid-France, bottles came directly to it from Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix and were stored in perfect conditions. Aromatic with splendid intensity of black fruit and cherries. Sophisticated and elegant, succulent, very potent with great complexity. Silky texture. Many years to go. Delightful effort. Stand A.

Trotanoya 2001 / Deepest colour of all the 2001s. Slightly herbal and earthy with delicious purity and poise on the nose. This is all about bold black fruit and firm, backward unresolved tannins. Very impressive and classy yet still scented and elegant. Full bodied and gently voluptuous even. Fine grained fresh tannins on a beautifully balanced long finish. Lovely. 96 points 7.2 hectares of 38 year old vines. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.
