The Story

The epitome of bottle-aged Port.

Opulent wild blackberries, fragrance of violets, scents of flowers and wild herbs, rockrose, mint, hints of spice, bottled in their time capsule and left to mull over for years. Written Notes

Cockburn and three other companies declared 1967 as opposed to 1966. Paul Symington bet his oldest friend Johnny Graham of Churchill Graham that when the wines were 25 years old Dow 1966 would be better than Cockburn 1967. Paul Symington said he would eat his hat and admits that he should at least chew the rim of his hat. ‘A typically eccentric Cockburn declaration,’ is how he described it.
Pale ruby. Fully mature. Rose petals and a hint of treacle. Relatively lightweight and very dry on the finish. Peter Cobb says this personified the older Cockburn style. They sought finesse and so chose 1935 over 1934 and 1947 over 1948. Delicacy. Very charming. But light. Fresh and super clean.

BWW2025

VOTE NOW FOR YOUR FAVOURITE WINES FOR THE BEST WINE OF THE WORLD2025 -TITLE

"We believed the opinion of 10,000 consumers or 1,000 professionals to be more correct and more significant than a small group of wine professionals, when it comes to judging a wine competition - so, please vote!

BWW-The Best Wine of the World-competition is by far the toughest wine competition on this planet. Unlike any other industry competition, less than 1% of the wines involved will be awarded.

BWW is also the largest wine competition: The BWW competition has already received in total over 15 million votes. The voting time ends at the end of May 2025.
