‘Percival Norman’ Barossa Shiraz 2019 – This is my pick from the entire Corryton Burge range. It is part of the Kin (or possibly Kith) range – I'm not sure it matters – and hence $45, but more than worth the extra pennies. Named after Amelia and Trent’s great grandfather. French oak for 17 months.

Even though it is a year younger than the previous Shiraz, it is more approachable, more polished. It has the desired generosity, boldness and richness, but also finesse. Excellent length here. Dense fruit, but well balanced. Dry herbs, cloves, black olives, mocha and chocolate. Good acidity carries the fruit through to a long finish, which does not lose its intensity. Delicious.

One small issue. Trent and I have not seen eye to eye on the food recommendations for his wines on occasion – in fairness to Trent, he may not have come up with this one, but to whomsoever did… Lamb, I'm all for, but when we start talking cherry tomatoes and cumin spiced yoghurt and lemon dressing, with a cracking Barossa Shiraz, not for me. Do you hate the wine? Why punish it with yoghurt and lemon dressing?

Otherwise, love this! Great granddad would be very proud. 93
