The Story
Darioush Viognier beautifully expresses the eclectic and exotic character of this varietal. Grown in the cooler locales of the Oak Knoll appellation, with its dense early morning fog and afternoon breezes, enables this rare and finicky variety to ripen slowly yet completely, revealing layers of bright fruit, floral and tropical flavors which define fine Viognier.
Appellation: Darioush estate vineyards in Napa Valley and Oak Knoll
Cooperage: Fermented in 85% neutral French oak, 10% stainless steel barrels

Tasting note: Crisp and remarkably fragrant, the 2018 Signature Viognier opens with fresh floral aromas of honeysuckle, acacia flower, and bergamot. A lift of bright citrus on first sip quickly broadens to pleasing layers of stone fruits- juicy apricot and nectarine- which unfold to reveal its sleek, flinty minerality. A spiced finish punctuated by hints of nutmeg and toasted hazelnuts adds textural complexity and persistence.
Vinification: Barrel fermented in neutral oak; aged 7 months sur-lie with bi-monthly batonnage.
Production: 3,406 cases
