The Story

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé has remained by inheritance in the same family since 1450. Twenty generations enlarged and enriched this family estate whose stewardship continues with Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette. They themselves are grand-daughters of the legendary Comte Georges de Vogüé who inherited the estate in 1925 and ran it for over 50 years; His daughter Elisabeth, Baronne Bertrand de Ladoucette, managed the estate from th...

Vintage 2010

THE 2010 BURGUNDY VINTAGE

Compared with 2009, these figures represent a deficit of 25 percent in red and 16 percent in white.

It was a cold, drawn-out winter, some two degrees cooler than the average, though rainfall and sunshine were normal. There was one severe attack of frost on December 22nd, just before Christmas, which caused widespread damage on the upside of the main road from Beaune to Dijon. In many places the road is on highe...

Written Notes

Stunning wine, incredibly open, with a faultless, almost endless build on the palate soaring to the back of the head. The wine has a wonderful noble scent, vinous redcurrant, raspberry, very small berry-type concentration. Amazing purity of fruit, an exquisite structural build on the palate. Incredible length.

2010 Musigny Grand Cru A bit shy but not elusive as Les Amoureuses. Layers of dark red berry fruit. Very very deep and seductive but at the same time airy. Just slight hints of spice, soil and floral notes. Very focused palate with dark red berry fruit. Intense, vibrant and seductive. Completely undeveloped but impeccably, seamless structured. Just layers of elegant fruit with floral and a interesting fresh minty note on the finish. Drink 2022-2042 96p.

Good looking normal size bottle, is in a perfect condition and level is 2cm ullage below the cork. Colour is ruby red, and looking healthy and deep. On the nose it is intense, youthful, fresh, opulent and tempting. The taste is fresh, refined, perfumed, elegant, ripe, with silky tannins, full-bodied, with complex, balanced, good texture structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has nutty, perfumed, honey, herbs, raspberry, blackcurrant, spice and mineral flavours. The finish is long, gentle, lingering, pure and spicy. This wine is sophisticated, beauty and fine. I paid around 500-1k€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 20-30 years and decant at least 2h before tasting.
