The grapes here hail from a single site from a vineyard at Gundaroo near Canberra. Fermentation was with wild yeasts in larger oak barrels, with a further eight months maturation on lees. Only 50 dozen made. A great deal to like with this ever-so-slightly left-of-centre Riesling.
The colour is an appealing pale and yet gleaming yellow. The nose offers some spicy notes with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as stonefruits, peaches and figs. Good concentration with impressive focus and intensity, there is a line of saline acidity which travels the full journey on a long and lingering finish. Enjoy over the next eight to ten years. 93.
