Written Notes

Dark centre leading out to a bright red edge. The immediate impression is of an exuberant and opulent wine. It is ripe with lovely spices, chocolate, blackfruits, licorice, coffee bean notes and a aniseed-like character reminiscent of black jellybeans. The oak is obviously of high quality. This wine is well balanced and concentrated. Finishes with very good length and cushiony, micro-fine tannins. It lingers beautifully. A star. Just a lovely blend of exuberance and elegance. Anyone who associates the Jacob's Creek name with cheap and cheerful, good-value wines needs to recalibrate their thinking. This is first class. It has, of course, led to lengthy discussions as to whether it was a wise thing to bring all wines under that tag or have them as separate entities. But that is a discussion for another day. And as good as this wine is, worth noting that their 2002 won enough gold to make even the goblins at Gringotts happy.
