Champagne PANNIER associates both modern and traditional...

Champagne PANNIER was founded by Louis Eugene Pannier in 1899, in Dizy, next to Epernay. In 1937, his son purchased medieval cellars in Château-Thierry, in the Marne Valley and there transferred his thriving champagne house. A group of wine growers purchased Champagne PANNIER and the cellars in 1974.

During an archaeological study in 1999, a XIV century rock carving of an archer was found in the cellars. This carving became the new logo for Champagne PANNIER with the motto of "Ad perfectionem intendere" – we aim for perfection.
This emblem represents PANNIER's values and wines: elegance, uprightness and balance.

The traditional blending of Champagne wines is the secret which renders PANNIER a classic Champagne... And so, the three varieties of Champagne grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir ripen for PANNIER throughout the noble vineyards of Champagne.
Off the beaten trail, in the backdrop of the Marne Valley vineyards in Château-Thierry, in the tranquility of our thousand year old cellars, these bottles are harbored in serenity.
Age old tradition is aided by modern methods at all levels of wine making assuring the coexistence of rigor and creativity. This technical mastery, hailed by all, permits the Cellar Master of PANNIER to produce a champagne of valor and virtue, consistent in PANNIER's style: elegant, well balanced and long.

Vintage 2006

A cold winter and springtime frosts laid the foundations for this vintage of abundant yields (12,997 kg/ha). Uneventful flowering was followed by exceptionally hot and sunny weather, which lasted until August. A dank August left producers fearful but fortunately warm, bright conditions in September redressed the balance. Harvest commenced on September 9th, producing grapes high in sugar level but notably low on acidity. The general health of the grapes was sufficient, producing wines which excel over the preceding 2005 vintage, another warm and ample year. The year's greatest wines are supple and expressive and despite the richness they escape being overly heavy. Overt and welcoming upon launch, the best come with excellent capacity for ageing. Winey, and richly fruity characters, most Champagnes regrettably miss some tension and finesse. Wines of the vintage include Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, Krug Vintage and Dom Pérignon Rosé.
