A huge, powerful wine, the 2013 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard hits the palate with notable intensity. Game, smoke, grilled herbs, licorice and blue/purplish fruit flesh out over time. Savory, dense and at times quite wild, the Hyde is starkly different in style from the other Pinots in this range. Then again, that is Carneros. (AG)   (1/2015) 93 points Antonio Galloni

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

My tasting notes on these same Pinot Noir cuvées in 2013 revealed slightly smaller production numbers, and wines with more crisp acids, perhaps not the flesh and fat of the 2012s, but stylistically, they are more elegant and feminine whereas the 2012s are more meaty, concentrated and powerful. All the 2013 Pinot Noirs appear to be very good, with my favorites being the Agustina Katherine Lindsay Estate and the Ulises Valdez Vineyard. (RP)   (12/2014)

Wine Information

2013 was a phenomenal growing season in just about every way. A warm, dry spring led to early bud break, limited canopy vigor and berry size, and created ideal conditions through bloom and fruit set. An abundance of long sunny days, with only one heat spike in early July, resulted in even ripening and an early harvest with exceptional flavor development. The 2013 vintage offers very high quality wines that are striking in their balance and expression.

Inside Information

The 2013 vintage of this long-time favorite in our portfolio is deep ruby red in color with expressive aromas of blueberry, black cherry, brown sugar, and sandalwood. The broad and supple mouthfeel reveals a cascade of berries and baking spices that flow into the long, silky finish.
