Written Notes

The 1903 Boal is excessively caramelized on the nose, which reveals scents of nougat and white chocolate with time. The midweight palate displays fine structure, although it seems a little austere on the finish, and “austere” is a word that I do not normally associate with a Boal Madeira.

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is brownish, and looking bright and medium. On the nose it is generous and simple. The taste is harmonious, refined, and medium-dry, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with balanced and well-integrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has waxy, dried-fruit, nutty and citrus flavours. The finish is long, round and vibrant. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years.
