Up to this point 1996 has been considered a fantastic vintage which produced classic wines; the best since 1990. A long, dry summer produced grapes of record ripeness with record acidity. It is going to take a long time before this wine reaches its peak, but the pure, chalky, extremely acid shape it is in at the moment has another very sublime charm that makes it a joy to drink at all stages. Wait for the breadth and toastiness. Fantastic winemaking where the character of the locality for cultivation is emphasised in an eminent manner.
