The Story

Sourced from select hillside estates, the Cabernet Sauvignon wines of BOND vividly demonstrate the range of Napa Valley's finest terroirs. From the more than eighty vineyards we have worked with over the past quarter century, we have slowly and vigilantly selected five sites. Wine Information

The nose carries the characteristic dark fruit and crème de cassis, and a very light hint of sage. The tell-tale yin and yang is in full display: Hedonic richness woven with cool minerality. The tannins serve as a guiding force, but are ever so fine as they persist on the finish.

Vintage 2014

Good canopy vigor allowed the grapes to ripen in mottled sunlight. In late August the fruit displayed great depth of character. By the first week of September the first grapes were ready to be picked. The rockiest part of the vineyard was collected first and then harvest proceeded down the crest of this north facing knoll.

Written Notes

The Oakville release (yet it’s from a steep hillside vineyard), the 2014 St. Eden has lots of graphite and dusty earth character as well as classic dark fruits, white chocolate, and toasty oak notes. It’s a big, full-bodied, elegant, multi-dimensional beauty that has everything going for it. It’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage.

Blackberries and plums nestle among cocoa, anise and wildflowers. On the palate a bright opening of black currants leads to a lingering finish of rich chocolaty tannins.

Dark, intense ruby red colour. Lovely toasty nose with chocolate aromas. Full-bodied, refined palate shows vivid acidity, gentle fruitiness, and grainy tannins. Long finish. Drink 2022-2028. (JL 95p; Nov 2018)
