The Story

Whether by design or by pure chance, there are in the world exceptional places. Cheval Blanc is one of these. Combining a unique soil with a symbiotic mix of grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, Cheval Blanc produces a wine, which has the rare quality of being good at any age. It is without doubt one of the most consistent wines in the world. Cheval Blanc's unique identity is due to its varied soils, early-ripening microclimate, the per...

Vintage 2022

Bordeaux 2022 vintage will stay in the memory of the world of wine as the exceptional vintage which kept a lot of surprises. The year started well with bud break at a normal date, so the frost in early April did not too much damage. The flowering started in mid-May and in optimal conditions. Written Notes

Cheval Blanc - 46% C. Franc, 53% Merlot and 1% C. Sauvignon, no press wine, no second wine. 13.9% alcohol. The yield was under 30hl/ha. It bursts with aromatic violets and creamy redcurrants/raspberries, impeccably structured on the palate with fabulous midpalate and silky texture. Vibrant and with stunning richness. Ethereal effort. 98-100p.

Blackberries, detailed, nuanced, stunning nose, layered, deep, rich yet lifted and highly scented. Incredible nose.
Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, blackberries, has a special energy to it, such aømost electric, vibrancy, which is strange to say in a red wine, but it has a very special brightness to it even if dense, rich, long indeed. No Petit Cheval made, but 20% was sold in bulk. This is likely to be amongst the very greatest from Cheval Blanc, and that is saying something.

This is a wine that soars to new heights with its brightness and weightlessness. The balance of serene fruit that’s perfectly ripe. Full-bodied yet tight and polished where it seems delicate and compressed, with berry, chocolate and walnut character. The finish is endless and poised. Wine of the vintage? 53% merlot, 46% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. 99-100

  • 100p

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Noble and elegant nose with ripe blackberries, juicy plums and hints of sweet elderberries, discreet floral hints, fine toasting and subtle oak. Vanilla and oriental spices in the background. On the palate excellent balance with juicy and sweet fruit, dark berries and fresh plums, ripe tannins, succulent taste with excellent depth and length.
